Ehizoya Golden Entertainment e.V., organisers of the Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) and the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA), has honoured veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker, television personality and former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, with the prestigious Golden Legacy Award.
The honour recognises Udokwu’s remarkable contribution to the development, growth and international visibility of Nigeria’s film industry, spanning more than three decades of outstanding artistic achievement, cultural influence and public service.
Bob-Manuel Udokwu is widely regarded as one of the defining figures of the early Nigerian film and television era. His career rose to national prominence through landmark productions including Living in Bondage, Karishika and Rattlesnake, while his memorable portrayal of Richard Haatrope in the iconic television soap opera Checkmate established him as one of the most recognisable and respected faces of Nigerian entertainment.
Through his exceptional talent, versatility and commanding screen presence, Udokwu has played significant roles in numerous acclaimed productions, helping to shape the artistic standards and cultural identity of what would become one of Africa’s most influential film industries.
His contribution, however, extends far beyond his performances on screen. As a respected industry leader and former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Udokwu provided leadership at a critical stage in the evolution of Nollywood, advocating for the interests, welfare and professional advancement of actors and other practitioners within the creative sector.
His influence has also extended into public service and the political sphere, where he has distinguished himself through 14 years of service, demonstrating a continued commitment to society beyond the entertainment industry.
According to Ehizoya Golden Entertainment e.V., the decision to confer the Golden Legacy Award on Bob-Manuel Udokwu reflects the organisation’s recognition of individuals whose careers have transcended entertainment and contributed meaningfully to Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

The Golden Legacy Award is one of the distinguished honours presented under the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards initiative, celebrating outstanding personalities whose achievements have contributed to the growth and global recognition of Nollywood and African cinema.
