Preparations are in top gear for the Nollywood Film Festival in Germany, a platform to showcase films made by Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora. According to the head of the coordinating panel of the event, Isaac Izoya, the event will hold at the prestigious Filmforum Höchst VHS Cinema in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany from 11th to 14th September, 2014.
“Preparations are in top gear at the moment. The event will hold in September and for four days, the arena will be busy with works made by Nigerians who are scattered all over the world making the black race proud with their films. At the moment, interested filmmakers are free to start submitting their works.”
Izoya, popular for his film, ‘Love in Berlin’ is a renowned Nollywood producer and actor based in Berlin, Germany, where he initiated through his company, Ehizoya Golden Entertainment the trend of taking Nigerian film stars on a tour of Europe.
According to him, the event would culminate in an award ceremony where Nigerians who have contributed to the growth of the industry would be recognised. “Nollywood film makers from all over the world who wish to see their films screened at the event should start now tro send the works for assessment and book a place on the list of honourees. The programme will have an award event, Nollywood E-Golden Awards, NEGA 2014 which will come with a gala night. Top Nollywood living legends will be honoured at the gala night as a mark of respect for their contributions. Stand-up comedians and music stars of Nigerian origin who are plying their trade at far-flung locations in the world would be at the event to add colour”.
